When Alpha Guardians receives your application form, a staff member will make an appointment to visit you. Please allow 1-2 hours for this meeting. This is an opportunity for us to get to know you and vice versa, and for you to ask any questions you may have about hosting. During this time, a member of staff will visit the student’s bedroom and communal areas in order to ascertain if this is suitable. They will explain in greater detail the requirements of hosting and various issues such as safeguarding.
Alpha Guardians will commence a DBS check on host families including all members living in the home over the age of 18, and may ask you to provide various documents that are necessary for this process. We will also take up two references.
If you are then approved as a host family, you will be invited for training.
Once we have found a suitable student for you, we will give you their information, and we encourage you to be in touch with the student prior to their arrival which will give you the opportunity to get to know each other.
We will send you information regarding the arrival date of the student, and you will be required to collect your student from an agreed meeting point in your local area.
